I have hypothyroidism helppp please?

My TSH is 6.58 and T4 is 15.50, Which means i have hypothyroidism, I was told the wrong information by the doctor he stated i had Hyperthyroidism which then was corrected by a friend who said i had the oppisite (Thank god) but then again the doctor refused i needed any medication Eg thyroxine At this level should it be treated? And if not treated does it get worse? Plus i have been having symptons hair loss! yes very depressing:( help!
