Is it possible to get into the military with controlled hypothyroidism?

You simply take a small pill once a day. I can miss a couple of days here and there. Unfortunately, I have to take it for life. My endocrinologist doesn't see why it would be an issue, but I thought any life-long medication disqualified you from the military.

I'm almost certain that you're going to be disqualified. In the field you may not have an opportunity to take a pill. You can go talk to a recruiter but I don't think you're going to get a waiver. Sorry man.

There are a number of medical issues that could be disqualifying and equally as many that require waivers for getting in. The best move for you is to talk to a recruiter to see where your particular issue falls under. Don't listen to what a lot of people tell you, rely on the recruiter...he or she knows what the current rules are.

yes, you can get into the army at least with it. our Lt. has a thyroid issue he has to take a pill everyday for, and i know other people, so it's definitely possible.

edit: you'll probably just need a waiver
