IS Propylthiouracil A DANGEROUS DRUG??(ITS USED TO TREAT HYPERTHYROIDISM)?
Here's a link so you can read about it. Your question is kinda vague...did a Doctor prescribe this for you? There are side effects to ALL medications.
If your asking if it's a "party"drug, no it isn't! (I'm not assuming you are)
It's prescribed for an overactive thyroid gland like you asked. Doesn't seem to have a lot of bad reports on it. Hope this helps.

Yes, it is. They down play all the harm in treating thyroid illness, including the radiation used for the uptake exam or ablation. Which increases the chances of getting thyroid cancer, and they tell you it doesnt, then read the literature, where it does.
The most recent meeting of endocrinologists, they all recommended to warn about liver damage , even failure due to PTU in children and now they have included adults.............duh.
they will not take respsonsibility if it harms your liver , however.........you would need to fight them with a lawyer. they never take responsibility .
Physicians dont think it is any big deal to treat thyroid problems, and it is a very big deal.
