What was your experience with thyroid surgery?
Just curious. This applies to those who had half of thyroid removed or all of it. Also would like to know what to expect after the surgery and when did you finally feel normal again?
Answers:
I didn't have it removed, but I did have radiation therapy to kill the gland. It was the size of a golf ball, and now almost five years later it is no longer even noticeable. I changed after wards, gained a lot of weight and now have to deal with maintaining my weight... even on medication which was never a concern for me before. My hair and nails stopped falling out, and I don't shake like I used to. I think it all really depends on your personal situation and your body. We all adapt to and deal with things differently. Good luck to you.
After surgery, wounds will be healed in a couple of weeks. But U will be short of thyroid hormones and U will be put permanently on thyroxin.
