Ø Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. This is also a cause of hypothyroidism and is regarded to be an inflammation present on the thyroid gland.
· Non-Cancerous Thyroid Nodules. Around 90% of the thyroid nodules present in the thyroid gland are benign. Some of the most common types under this category are called follicular adenoma, colloid nodules or Hurthle cell adenoma.
· Cancerous Thyroid Nodules. In the classification of cancerous thyroid nodules – about 10% of all thyroid nodule types – the malignant occurrence is due to the cells that the thyroid contains. The cell types may be known as papillary, medullary, follicular or anaplastic in nature. In some cases, it may also contain lymphoma. Lymphoma is a cancer associated with the entire immune system.
